Update!! We made it to Nicaragua!!!!

By the grace of God we arrived at our ministry base in Granada on October 15th. The first day here we were able to rest after a long day of travel and we got to meet our ministry hosts and some of the locals.  Nicaragua is absolutely gorgeous and I am in awe of the Lord’s glory revealed in creation. Paul says in Colossians 1 that “all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” It’s hard to look around and not glorify God for His beauty revealed in creation, and the fact that all of this was created by Him and for Him.

One thing that has been a huge blessing here is how much the ministry we are partnering with, REAP, values the importance of prayer. They are so intentional to protect the first love of Jesus by seeking Him first in all things. Jesus says in John 15:5 that “apart from Me you can do nothing.” If we try to do ministry apart from Him or from an empty cup, our ministry is in vain. I have nothing good to offer the people here except Jesus.

We have been here for two weeks and I have already seen the Lord work and move in so many ways. Time has flown by so fast, and I am reminded to make each day count, being intentional to love the Lord and love the people around me well. Our ministry looks different everyday, this is a short example of our schedule!!

5 am – prayer

6 am – squad devotional

8 am – breakfast

9 am – prayer room

12 pm – lunch

1 pm – prayer walk

5 pm – dinner

6:30 pm – team time

9 pm – sleeeeep

Waking up early every morning to spend time with Jesus has been such a sweet time of fellowship. It sets the tone for the rest of my day and it places Jesus of the throne of my heart, telling myself and my heart that today I will worship the Lord and exalt Him above all else. Jesus is worthy of every single day, hour, and minute of my life. One of my favorite parts of our ministry here has been prayer walks. Prayer walks consist of us walking down the streets and asking the people if we can come into their house and tell them about Jesus and pray for them in any way. The culture here is very welcoming to having conversations and so many of the families we talk with are actually very interested in learning more about God. It has been difficult because I have the Spanish vocabulary of a 4 year old, however I have still been able to see the Lord work in powerful ways. God crosses the barriers of speech. Love speaks when words can’t. And prayer is a universal language.

There are around 10 staff members at REAP that have a house church that meets every week with community members in their homes. We have the opportunity to join them and bring life and a renewed passion for the Lord. After fellowshipping with the local believers the first week of ministry I was reminded that the body of Christ has people all around the world!! One of the first verses you may have learned is John 3:16, and it says “for God so loved the WORLD that He send His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal heart.” The Fathers heart is for the whole world, for every nation tribe and tounge!!! Every person you meet is a person that Jesus died to save, viewing people through this perspective allows us to walk in love and compassion. I’d challenge you guys this week to allow the Lord to show you the depths of his love for you (Ephesians 3:18-19).

I am praying for you guys and I love you all so much!!! Please reach out if you need prayer for anything or have any questions!!

Prayer

Lord you are worthy of all the praise and glory. You are worthy of every breath that we take. Jesus I pray that everyone who reads these words would be reminded that you are worthy and that your heart is for the whole world. I pray that you would ignite in us a desire to see your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. God give us eyes of love and compassion to see the people around us. Jesus I pray that we would continue to live on mission everyday of our lives, because you are worthy of everyday! Thank you Lord for the truth of the gospel, that you have saved us and washed us clean through your blood. It’s in Jesus name we pray!!

Scripture

I will praise You, O LORD,

with my whole heart;

I will tell of all Your

marvelous works.

I will be glad and rejoice

in You;

I will sing praise to Your

name, O Most High.

Psalm 9:1

Let the people praise You, O God;

Let all the peoples praise You.

Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy!

Psalm 67:3-4

And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

  3. Yes, all of God’s creation and His people are beautiful. What a way to start the day by seeing through the Lord’s eyes, His word, and being filled by Him. You are being poured out in so many ways, and I love how you are so intentional in every moment, knowing that time is fleeting. Thank you for sharing your heart and payer. Praying for you. Love ya

  4. Hey there! I really like the perspective of “Every person you meet is a person that Jesus died to save…” It is truly one of the most compassionate unconditional ways to view people. The mind of Christ puts worth on everyone, crossing all barriers with love. A great reminder for everyday encounters with people. Thanks.

  5. Amen, praise God! You are always an encouragement to the saints Emily! Keep seeking Him and His Kingdom first, may you cup overflow and be used daily, to give Him all the glory and praise! Love ya, proud of you, Lord willing see you soon!
